I love thrillers, but the one thing I’m always missing is a story with a strong female in the lead role. And that’s exactly what this book has. Gwynn Reznick is a resourceful young woman, who knows her stuff when it comes to stealthy, undercover operations, and she uses all her skills and charms to get the job done. The one thing I really loved about this book is how the author managed to portray Gwynn as a skilled undercover operative, or PI, in a world of high stakes business without sacrificing her femininity, or having her do her job using seduction, etc. which seems to be the stereotypical role of women in thrillers.

Overall, the book is very well written and well paced. The author has a clear and concise writing style and I had no trouble picturing the scenes in the book as they unfolded. The twists and turns will keep you guessing right up to the end, and, believe me, you’ll be glued to the page for the duration. I know I was!

Highly recommended for all thriller fans!

Cisco Bandits A Gwynn Reznick Mystery Gwynn Reznick Mystery Thriller Series Book 2 edition by IngeLise Goss Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is the second time I have read bout Gwynn . If you remember her in book one she meet Ruben while he was investigation her friends death. Now Ruben and Gwynn are dating and he has sent her on her first assignment without any help. Gwynn inserts herself very well into the company of Prudell Energy to uncover the shadiness going on with some employees. Murders are happening and they are not an accident which some believe it to be and with Gwynn's help hopefully she can uncover who is behind it all before it is too late for herself. Gwynn is a good character and of course made mistakes which I enjoyed her doing on her first assignment. It wouldn't have seemed "real" enough if she went through the whole undercover agenda without making any mistakes that she had to clean up. I honestly don't know how she handled not being able to have a long conversation with her fiancee as I know it had to be hard on her especially when one of the people she worked with kept hitting on her.
The author did a great job with the characters and being able to keep them straight especially the bad guys. There is murder, back stabbing, suspense, action all rolled up in this story that is goes together very nicely.
With this being book two in this series it can be a stand-alone as you don't need to have the backstory of who Gwynn is, but I would recommend reading it so you can just know about her and Ruben.
I do wonder if we will get more of Holly in another story as I enjoyed her coming in and helping Gwynn out when she needed via Ruben. Holly isn't a main character but she sure does know her stuff on the computers.
Hoping to read more in this series soon.
Cisco Bandits is Book 2 in the Gwynn Reznick series, however it is a stand alone if you did not read The Cost of Crude, even though I highly recommend you read it. The Cost of Crude introduces readers to Gwynn, who is extremely resourceful and fearless, as well as her boss Reuben, who is efficient at running undercover operations. A love affair ensued, and the two are now engaged and enduring a long distance relationship - as well as employee/boss roles.

In Book 2, lead character, Gwynn goes on her first assignment after extensive training. Shortly after she arrives to investigate one death, two more occur, and the rookie detective witnesses both without the perps knowing. Gwynn's skills and technique are solid, however she occasionally becomes defiant and breaks rules in an effort to learn more about what's going on inside Prudell Oil. I could relate to her desire to learn as much as possible about who is involved and what dirty deeds are up their sleeves, but I'm not as strong as Gwynn and would likely crumble like a blubbering crybaby if I were tied up and slapped around.

Inge-Lise is an excellent writer with a nice moving flow whose twists and turns keep readers guessing who the bad guys might be. I guessed wrong, and am happy that I couldn't figure out the culprit(s). When we learn the villain(s) up front, we lose respect for an author's storytelling ability.

Will Gwynn's stubborn determination cause her to foolishly blow her first case and possibly lose respect of her fiancé and her job? Maybe even both?

Cisco Bandits has a strong cast of characters, but I'm eager to read Book 3 to see what happens with Gwynn Reznick and Ruben Dordi, and whether their love can survive the stress of treacherous working conditions.

I highly recommend this intriguing read with intricate plot twists for those who enjoy this genre.
Living a life undercover is one of the most horrifying and challenging jobs an agent can be assigned. The risks always outweigh the benefits and the agent finds herself completely cut off from everything that she ever knew. Of course, it doesn’t make it any better when the people around her start to be murdered. This is the scenario created by Inge-Lise Goss in her novel Cisco Bandits. The main character, Gwyn Reznick, has been tasked with going undercover and inserting herself into the inner workings of the Prudell Energy Company in order to uncover…well, she’s not exactly sure. As Gwyn becomes more involved with the company and its financial accounts, she is hoping her contact will finally inform her of exactly what she is supposed to be searching for. Before that can happen, Gwyn witnesses a murder and a cover up. As she attempts to come to terms with what she saw while still keeping her cover, Gwyn learns that another Prudell employee died under mysterious circumstances just weeks before she arrived. Did these employees know something about Prudell that needed to be kept quiet? As Gwyn races to try and uncover the truth, a company officer approaches her and reveals that accounts are not adding up and files are missing. Has the perfect reason for her to be the next victim just been revealed?
Cisco Bandits is a fast paced, high tense action novel with a strong female lead. Even without reading the previous novel, I felt the story was powerful and capable of standing on its own. Inge-Lise Goss proves to be a fabulous writer with a keen eye for hooking the reader with a powerful opening scene. Fans of detective and action novels will flock to this fabulous read.
