I feel like I have to review this book so that other readers won't be as disappointed as I was. It's an interesting premise, especially the fantastical elements, but just an ok read.

Celine is an average, boring person with no one to miss her when disappears off the face of the earth (literally - hah!) with her new found soul mate. She accepts everything that comes to her - from strange powers, to crazy technology and the fact that she's to fulfill a prophecy. (I found her acceptance a bit of a stretch.)

The book was exciting at first, but I got bored as it went on. There's not much more to the plot than meets the eye. She has to give birth before the bad guys kill her, so everyone protects her until she can give birth, the end.

The real problem I had with this book was the writing. There were a few formatting and spelling errors, to be expected in a Kindle freebie. But I felt like the wording was stilted. It's very flat. He did this. He did that. Parts of the story are told in Celine's first person, and parts are told in Sebatian's 3rd person, but neither felt right.

The Wishing Hour edition by J Adams Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I really did not like this book even though I finished it. I was hoping it would get better. It was an interesting concept but the romance between the two main characters was too sickening. I just felt it was unnecessarily too amorous. I appreciate that it wasn't graphically sexual but the feelings expressed was so repetitive. I get that they were so bonded that they lived for each other but how many times do they have to express it. Ugh!

I don't recommend this book even though it had a gorgeous man on the cover for eye candy.
The book was exciting at first, but I got bored as it went on. There's not much more to the plot than meets the eye.

Sebastian's mission is to protect Celine. He takes her to another land, Challis. A place where people are truly at peace and happy. Celine discovers that she is the Woman of Prophecy who must give birth to the Golden Child. Sebastian has been chosen to be her mate and their love continues to grow as they take this journey together. However, there are evil beings out in the world who are determined to stop them. If Sebastian cannot save Celine, their peaceful world will come crashing down upon them and all the citizens of Challis.

I finally finished reading The Wishing Hour by J. Adams. Unfortunately, It felt more like a children's bedtime story to me. About a 1/4 of the way in it had that happily ever after-ish feel... and it didn't stray far from that feeling. I was hoping for so much more and It never came. As I was reading, I kept thinking of all the ways this book could have been written into a really really good book! Very disappointing. I gave it 2 stars for it's potential.
From the reviews I approached this book with much enthusiasm, the plot seem interesting but the execution of the story is what I beleived killed this story before it even beginnings. The story open with a dramatic scence featuring our secondary hero Celine's protector. The start pulled me in, then when I was introduced to the main character Celine my interest waned. Celine is very uninteresting, even the author says so she has no life. She is a goody goody character without a flaw. She is beautiful, but has no friends, no family (parents died), she seems rich cause she spends all her free time volunteering at a senior home. Also Celine seems to have an Italian obession. The country, food, culture, fashion you name it and she knows about it if it's Italian, even the hero is Italian. As the story continues she's saved be a eight feet tall greek god. Who she feels a deep connection to. So deep in fact that she just follows him every where and takes his word for the truth. As the story progress's the reader gets no real info regarding the danger that Celine is in nor who her Hero Mr. eight feet tall is. He says he comes from another world but then contradicts himself by saying he was born in Venice 1290. He is eight feet tall yet all the humans around him seem to not be bother with this, also he has seriously wealth friends but refuses to tell who they are and how he is connected to them. There are many chapters were Celine simple goes on about how handsome he is and how she can't believe what is occuring to her, and niether can the I. She comes off as a love struck, simpleton with no real sense of her self. Some may find a ditzy love struck herione like Celine appealing, and her eight feet tall maybe human but probably not protector interesting but not me. The story needs major work like more character development, more indepth plot development other then flashy cars, expensive clothes, and the soulmate pitch. After a major rewrite this story may have a serious chance of being good.
Book Review- The Wishing Hour by J. Adams

Celine meets a strange man one night when he comes to her rescue against her abusive neighbor. She trusts him immediately. There is something about him that calls to her. He whisks her away to safety. She is the Woman of Prophecy and the one to save Sebastian’s people. He is her protector and her mate. He has saved her on several occasions while hiding in Italy. He wants to take her to his home. After they perform the bonding ceremony they head to Sebastian’s home.
She is welcomed with open arms as she settles in her new home and her role. However the Urchins are still looking for her and her life is in danger until the prophecy is fulfilled. Sebastian takes his role as her protector very seriously. In fact when her life is threatened, he helps close in on the traitor among them.
I had a hard time getting into this book. I like the relationship between Celine and Sebastian. They made an awesome couple. The plot, unfortunately, seemed one-dimensional to me. The writing didn’t always flow. I also would be reading and then skip chunks of the story. I wanted to see how it ended, but it didn’t grab my interest and I casually read the story. It was nothing to write home about. For me the story was just all right. I give it a 3 out of 5.
