Candlelight Christmas Lakeshore Chronicles Susan Wiggs Books Reviews
I am such a sucker for romance. This is a good feel good type of book. It will leave you smiling in the end.It also makes you want to know more about this group of characters.
I have read all the Lakeshore stories up until I got to Marrying Daisy Bellamy. I was so disappointed with the ending that I just didn't buy any more of the series. I'm back! This story of Logan and Darcy was so heartwarming that I finished it in one day between housecleaning and running errands! And I'm so happy that things turned out fine for Logan. I love family and Christmas stories and this one didn't disappoint. Looking forward to the new series!!
I've read The Winter Lodge by Susan Wiggs and very much enjoyed it so when I came to searching for a Christmas book for the holidays I tried out this one. It's a classic Chick Lit book and somewhat predictable but still easy and fun to read. It's a great love story without being overly mushy and although it's the last in the lakeshore series and hints to previous books if you are familiar with them Susan was correct that each book can stand alone in its on right and doesn't necessarily depend on previous storylines. It's also great for the holidays because it's very homey and family-oriented.
Daisy Bellamy's ex-husband, Logan O'Donnell and his sister India's best friend, Darcy Fitzgerald, are at the center of Susan Wiggs' latest installment in the Lakeshore Chronicles. Returning to the fictional town of Avalon at Christmas, many familiar characters from the other Chronicle books make brief cameo appearances. Logan's son Charlie, now in the 5th grade, and a few of his friends, often take center stage in this novel. Although a romance is usually the catalyst in Susan Wiggs' books, in this episode, I would have preferred more sexy scenes and dialogue and fewer descriptions of events. Despite that, I hope Susan Wiggs gives us an 11th book in the Lakshore Chronicles.
I found myself skipping pages. There was nothing compelling about the characters. If I had to choose, I guess the hero, Logan wins out as being a tiny bit more interesting. Overall, there was some witty dialogue but boring characters and story.
In three days I've read "starlight on willow lake" and this one. I'm not sure which is the better of the two because they were both exceptional. There was a valuable truth in this book that I've needed to hear for years following my long marriage and subsequent divorce. Thank you. I love the way these books are written as the writing flows so well and the personal stories are so fine tuned and filled with life's trials and tribulations!
One of the Lakeshore Chronicles, I see that the author has finally helped Logan to become a nice guy after all. His behavior as a teen with Daisy wasn't that nice, though he showed redeeming features through his commitment to their son, Charlie, but in this story, he comes into his own.
Meeting him through his sister is Darcy Fitzgerald, desperate to avoid a holiday with her family because her ex-, who cheated on her, still attends those gatherings. When she goes to Florida for Thanksgiving, Logan discovers she's a better athlete than he, has a more interesting job, and she challenges him in ways other women have not. But he has a child, and she's been badly burned by her ex- and his children. She vows never to get involved with another single father. A vow that is made to be broken by very cute 10-yr-old Charlie, who shares, with his father, a kind of cuteness that worms its way into Darcy's heart.
What will happen at Christmas if Thanksgiving could be so right? Both of these adults have issues with their extended families, and getting this couple together also means getting the families together. What better place than on the shores of Willow Lake? The story ends with the same sparkle as the sun on the ice and snow.
