Using his shapeshifting powers he hunts criminals, terrorists, and killers until he discovers a plot that could threaten the lives of every man, woman, and child on the planet.
Nicholas soon discovers that there are other shapeshifters affected by the same experiment he was caught in.

I finished this book while on vacation in the UK. It's kind of an apropos location to read this given the main character.I started reading this book because I like reading about shapeshifters, and that part of the book didn't disappoint.
However, the writing itself was very poor. There were lots of run-on sentences, frequent grammar and spelling mistakes, and a lot of the phrasing felt very stream of consciousness. Basically, it could have used a thorough editing, just to get the typos and grammar issues out. There were also some details that really didn't add anything to the story.
Overall, the story part is there. It just needs quite a bit of polishing. This won't, however, keep me from reading the sequel.

Anyone The Shapeshifter Chronicles Book 1 eBook Peter Stevens Reviews
The concept of shape-shifting is nothing new - it goes way back to Mayan and Egyptian lore. In more modern literature and film, we have examples of this in Star Trek's The Founders and Chameloids, K.A. Applegate's Animorphs book series and even John Arcudi's way-out character The Mask.
So then, what makes Peter Stevens' novel...novel? Well, for starters his narrative is much darker than any of those mentioned. He has also managed to take an old concept and breath new life into it by looking at many of the possibilities involved with shape-shifting - and one can only expect that the ongoing series will continue in the same vein.
The science behind the story is not over-complicated so as to confuse or bog down the reader in technological waffle - in fact, the action and intrigue starts right at the beginning of Chapter One and never releases the reader until the last page - But even then you'll be panting for more in Book 2.
The story is basically a stand-alone novel, but has a few twists and stings in the tail to entice the reader back for more.
If you're looking for an exciting and enthralling story in SF Fantasy, then this page-turner is a must-read!
Also, all the movie makers out there, take note - This will make one damn fine movie or TV series, so be sure to be the first to get the rights to this amazing series!
Peter Stevens' novel "Anyone" is the first novel of three Shapeshifter chronicles to be released.
"Anyone" is bang up to date, inspired by recent events and builds on scientific speculation about the experiments taking place at the Large Hadron Collider CERN. Written in the first person, "Anyone" begins with some rather freak environmental events after the very moment of the initial reaction, from which the central character Halls inherits a rather enviable power. I won't use the phrase "superpower" because this novel is far deeper than one that might be based on just that alone. Stevens considers the effects of actually living with the power as a "condition" and how the central character adapts to it in a realistic way. We first find that like most of us, he takes full advantage of the situation thinking only of himself. That is what makes this novel more plausible especially with its easily flowing up-to-date dialogue and darker-than-first-apparent humour.
Halls is soon trailed by two mysterious characters whose motives soon become apparent.
It is a book that you won't want to put down.
I'll be looking forward to see how events develop futher in the shapeshifer chronicles.
Thoroughly recommended for "anyone" who wants an up-to-the -minute sci-fi novel.
